A Visit to Sanpete

I know I've mentioned this before, but I love the fact that Brandi's dentist is here in Sanpete. That means that every six months I get a chance to visit with my grandsons Damon and Jonas...I'm still waiting for Ian to surprise us and come with them.  This time down they got to meet the newest member of our family...Pete!!  Yes, our orphan dog is still here and the boys LOVED hanging out with him.  Pour Damon is allergic to dogs and his little eyes got all red and puffy, but that did not stop him from loving on old Pete.

Our day started off with the traditional Mickey Mouse waffles for breakfast.

Then it was time for Bea to head to the dentist so the boys went with me to pick Taite up from school. They decided we needed to go to Subway for lunch.  I was really surprised when they ate all of their lunch...especially since they had just eaten waffles about 2 hours before.

Then it was time to say goodbye to Taite and Pete and...

Kenzie who dropped by!  She really isn't sitting on Pete :-)

Junior Cheerleader

It was cheerleader camp time again here at North Sanpete.  Kenzie is the cheerleader and Haylee gets to be the student.  We went over to the game to watch Haylee perform for halftime.  It was North Sanpete vs Juab...always a good game and the hawks did a little butt whooping on the rivels from across the mountain...and we got to enjoy the cute junior cheerleaders.  Fun times!!

Playing Hooky

Well...they weren't really playing hooky from school.  Today was parent/teachers conference for the elementary schools so I invited Logan, Haylee and Taite to lunch and then spend the day at granny's house.  The afternoon started with lunch at Subway and then they spent the day playing outside.  As you can see from the photos, Pete is still here and the kids LOVE playing with him!  We feed him good and let him sleep in the garage so we hope he feels like this is his new home.
And do you notice something missing in these pictures??  That would be snow!!  It is January 20th and usually by this time we have atleast a foot of snow on the ground.  Today the kids were playing outside without coats and playing in the dirt.  It's really a strange winter.  I sure hope we don't end up with snow in June...it would sure put a crimp on the garden we are all looking forward to!!!

Pete

We've had a dog for as long back as we've been married until about a year ago when Franklin passed away and it's been pretty lonely without one.  Taite has been trying to talk us into one for a while but I just didn't want to do the whole puppy thing...you know...all the whinning and ripping things apart.  But about three days ago this little fellow showed up.  We thought he belonged to our neighbors who had moved, but when I called them to find out if we could adopt him, she told me he wasn't there and had been hanging out at their house for the past month.  So we bought some dog food and a new collar and hopefully he will adopt us.  Taite thinks he's died and gone to doggy heaven!!  So welcome Pete to the Lusty family...we hope!

Yumminess!!!

A couple of years ago Brandi introduced me to fruit salsa and it was love at first bite!!  About a week ago Kenzie sent me a text asking me if I could possibly make some cause she had really been craving some.  I sent her back a frowny face and told her that it's winter and you need fresh fruit to make it so we would have to wait a few more month.  While I was shopping at Sam's Club I found some fresh mango, pineapple and strawberries...the only thing missing was the peaches.  I decided we could just use frozen peaches...which worked out perfectly.  So I cooked up some cinnamon chips and made the salsa and surprised her with a yummy dessert for Sunday dinner.  It was AWESOME!!!

Happy Birthday Bea

I can't believe my sweet daughter is 37 years young!!  The time has passed so quickly.  I remember that day that changed my life forever.  Before Brandi came to live with us, I could come and go as I pleased...but now I had someone else I needed to think about.  Since she was my first baby I didn't really know what to expect when it came time to deliver.  You hear tons of horror stories and people tell you not to eat once you start into labor and boy I was wishing I had listened. I sent Randy for take-out from the Kowloon Chinese restaurant...which probably wasn't a good idea!!!  Brandi claims that is why she loves to have Chinese food on her birthday every year.  I remember sitting in the frontroom of our trailer (yes...we did live in a trailer...a 12'x60' to be exact!) when Randy came in, grabbed my suitcase and told me "I'm headed to the hospital...are you coming with me?!"  It was just starting to snow when we left and by the time we brought her home, there was about a foot of the white stuff on the ground!  I told her that is probably the reason she loves snow so much. Thank you for choosing to come to our house to live and thank you for the being the wonderful daughter you are.  We love you!!

I love this picture of Brandi!  It was taken in November 1975

A Dangerous Combination!

I got this pix of Amy while Jonas and I were visiting her at work.  She manages the Cold Stone in Tooele and in December they added a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory!  I don't know how she stays so thin.  Cheesecake Fantasy and Apple Pie carmel apples available in the same place...now that's what I call a little bit of heaven on earth!!!!

It's Granny Nanny Time...Again :-)

It's been a while since I've had the opportunity to go spend time with these three handsome boys while their parents take a mini vacation and head to Wendover.  Our first stop was dinner at Sizzler.  Jonas told me that that's their favorite place to eat when I'm in town...and Ian is a good sport and just goes along with their request.  He takes care of Jonas at the salad bar and I take care of Damon.

Next we headed to the Red Mango for dessert.  Brandi is always talking about their yogurt so I decided to give it a try.  Since we had just eaten dinner, we got one raspberry yogurt with fresh raspberries and four spoons.  The boys picked a spot by the fire place and we sat down and shared the yummy dessert.  You're right Bea, it is pretty tasty...but I still think the Berry Bowl has the best raspberry yogurt.

Then it was time to head home and stick to the schedule that their mother had left for me...well...we tried to stick to the schedule...but what happens at 1803 while the parents are away stays at 1803.  However I did tell the boys we couldn't do anything too crazy or else I would probably get fired!  After chores, homework and bathtime, we played a couple of games of Uno and then it was time for a bedtime story...the Prince and the Pauper...Mickey Mouse style.  Damon had already told me that he was going to sleep in his dads bed and Jonas jumped right into bed with me.  FYI...Jonas is like sleeping with a tornado!!  After what seemed like an eternity, that sweet little Jonas put his arms around me at 6:50 am and let me know it was time to get up.  Another thing we always do when I come to visit is to have belgian waffles for breakfast...no matter how early we have to get up.

Then it was time to get Damon ready and off to school.  Ian didn't have to be to school until 10 so we let him sleep in.  After both Damon and Ian were safely delivered at school, Jonas and I headed to Tooele to visit Amy and then we made a quick stop to see my mom...which the boys lovingly call "Darlin".

After our quick trip to Tooele and Magna, it was off to Wasatch Elementary to pick Damon up.  When we got home, Damon couldn't wait to try the new DS we gave him for Christmas.  He and Jonas looked so cute sitting on the couch.  Jonas watches everything Damon does.  I think he really loves his brother.
It wasn't long before Brandi, Morgan and Ian arrived back home and then it was time for good-bye hugs and loves.  I'm pretty sure this is just one of many granny nanny adventures for 2012...after all, there is an anniversary coming in March...and it's not mine.

Let The New Year Begin

It's hard to believe it's 2012.  It seems like just yesterday it was December 31,1999 and we were all worried the world was going to end at the stoke of midnight.  Now...twelve years later, life continues as usual.  As I looked over my blog entries from 2011, I am so thankful Brandi encouraged me to start a blog.  For years I have threatened I was going to take all those pictures I have taken and do some scrapbooking, but the pictures still sit in either drawers or boxes collecting dust.  It was awesome to see all the things our family did and all the memories made through pictures and journaling my thoughts.

As I begin this new year there are lots of things I would love to accomplish.  I'd like to love more and hate less. I want to be a little kinder and less judgmental.  I want to enjoy the time I get to spend with my family and make more memories that I can blog about.  I want to cherish every minute my Heavenly Father allows me to stay on this beautiful earth and be more grateful for the many blessings He gives me each and every day.  I want to be more positive and a lot less negative...to see the beauty in every living thing.  I want to be a better mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.  And last but not least, I want to be more like the person my Heavenly Father know I can be.  I guess I'll start one step at a time...one baby step at a time.
